Macro March...

is short project I'm taking on to try to boost my macro skills!  I've already fallen behind and it's only the fourth day!  I missed day two, but made up for it on day three!  Good think I make my own rules!

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Dandelion Days!

The weed-n-feed is on order, so I had no choice but to try to get some shots of the dreaded weed.
Well, I dread looking at them in my nice green lawn,
but I love the challenge of capturing them creatively!

Project: Create 8/26

Project: Create

We're back this year with a new project designed to help us build more creativity into our photography.
Every other Monday we'll post our images, many of them taken with our Lensbaby lenses.
The effects of the Lensbaby can be somewhat subtle or quite dramatic.
At the bottom of my post, as well as in the post of the other photographer(s), is a link to next photographers images. Click those links to take a trip around our circle!

Pink Dogwood Blooms!

I pulled my macro lens back out again this week.
I couldn't resist the beautiful morning light falling on my pink dogwood tree when I was walking
the dog.  Of course, as soon as I grabbed my camera and got back outside, the sun was behind the clouds.
Patience paid off!

I almost forgot!

Snowflakes. Take 1

For the second time this winter the weather forecasters have predicted storms that wouldn't amount to much, but turned into a major snow event.
It's only January and I think we've had more days off from school that in the last 3 years combined.
So, what's a photographer to do on a day off?
If you need to answer, look below.
If you already knew the answer, you know what you're looking for!

It's just another Macro Monday!

Come take a walk with me through the websites of four photographers who are sharing their love of macro photography every other Monday throughout the year.  We shoot what we love, what makes us happy,  to hone our skills,  to stretch our minds and our imaginations, and because it's who we are!

Spring is finally springing in my neck of the woods.  The last two days have been relatively warm, at least compared to the last few weeks.
This is one sign of spring that I don't usually look forward to .
It means work.
It means hours on my knees with my gloves on my hands yanking this stuff out of my garden.
Now that I have a macro lens, I may feel a little differently
because
in the right light, even a weed, in this case the beginning of some chickweed, can be
beautiful!

As I sit here to type my post, it's snowing outside and snowing hard.  We've already passed the 1-2" that were predicted. It's probably the most snow we've had all winter, combined!
It's so pretty, and I thought about going out and taking some new pictures to share this morning, but even though I will take them, I might wait to share them until it's 98 degrees outside with humidity to match!
Instead, I'm going to share pictures from the second newborn shoot I've ever done.  Just a few, so as not to give away too much before the proud parents have had a chance to see them all!

Macro Monday!!

This week I looked for something that most of use every day.  I walked around the house and looked at all sorts of things trying to decide what would make a unique image.
This is something like I had in mind, but it's not exactly what I was thinking.
Nevertheless, it was still kind of fun experimenting with different colors, backgrounds and
depth of fields.

This guy wasn't buried in the flower when I found him.  I think he knew I was there though.  He refused to pull his head out of the flower no matter much I tried to disturb him!
